Some
History
|
The
UQ Powerlifting and Weightlifting Club was established on
the University of Queensland St. Lucia campus in around 1965, making it one of the most longest running
dedicated powerlifting and weightlifting clubs in Australia.
Until September 2007 the club operated from a small venue located on the UQ St Lucia campus under the UQ Sport Gym. Known affectionately as the "dungeon", the old gym could only accommodate a limited number of people safely at any one time. In October 2007 the club moved to a much larger premises at Acacia Park, St. Lucia, on the edge of the UQ Campus.
